Losing DACA: The Effects on Dreamers and Immigrant Families in Knoxville. Our first League Membership Meeting of the Year!

The League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox County will present a forum on the implications of rescinding DACA. The League has a long-standing commitment to immigration reform:

The League of Women Voters believes that immigration policies should promote reunification of immediate families; meet the economic, business and employment needs of the United States; and be responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian crises. Provision should also be made for qualified persons to enter the United States on student visas. All persons should receive fair treatment under the law.

Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 21 for a panel discussion to learn the personal impacts of these decisions on our local families and community, legislative options, and how to take action. Q & A follows. The public is invited, so please share widely!

Speakers: DeAnne Pendry, PhD, Anthropology Department, University of Tennessee, Knoxville; Co-Founder, Allies of Knoxville's Immigrant Neighbors (AKIN)
Claudia Caballero, Executive Director, Centro Hispano
DACA student
